power button on desktop not working

power button not working on desktop: Hello, I'm having trouble with my computer and I was wondering if you could help me. This morning, when I came in to work, the power button on my desktop was not working. I couldn't turn the computer on or off. So, I tried resetting the SMC on my mac.

Mac Pro (Mid 2010)

1) Shut down your Mac by pressing the power button on the front panel.

This is important because the system may lose state information if you simply restart.

2) Disconnect all external devices from your computer, including:

·         External display

·         USB devices

·         Other Macs or PCs connected by Thunderbolt or FireWire

3) While your Mac is off, press and hold the power button for at least ten seconds, then release it.
