grounding yourself static electricity
Static electricity is the buildup of electrons on a surface.
When you're working inside a computer, static electricity is one of your worst enemies because a single spark on the wrong component can ruin it.
We all carry static electricity around with us every day, usually in the form of handcuffs or a light zap when you touch a door knob. It's never much of an issue when you just live your life, but when you're doing delicate work inside a sensitive electronic device, static electricity can be your worst enemy.
