front panel connectors loose

I've opened up my old laptop to clean it up and keep it running. Everything went smoothly, but when I closed it up, I realized that the ties that hold the front panel cables in place were extremely loose. I was able to put them back in place, but they are still loose. What should I do to make them stay in place?

The front panel of your computer is made up of both metal and plastic parts. When you open or close the panel, the pressure exerted on these parts causes them to bend slightly outwards. When you put everything back together again, these parts try to return to their original position. The ties that hold various cables in place are one way to keep them from moving too much. The other way is to use additional screws – besides the ones that secure the panel's bezel – to hold everything in place. Unfortunately, PCI expansion cards or other large components could prevent you from being able to insert new screws.
